We are over 150 predominantly Jewish cyclists from throughout the Bay
Area who share a love of cycling and building community. The Club
provides an environment for cyclists to meet each other and experience
the beauties of the Bay Area, together.
We treasure our diversity, drawing members from over two
dozen synagogues, from renewal to orthodox, and welcome the unaffiliated
as well. Our members’ skill range is from intermediate to advanced. We
participate at the Foothill Century in May, Tour of Napa Valley in August,
and Waves to Wine MS Bike Tour in September.
Why are we called "Mitzvah Milers"?
We chose our name because
we
have a community service emphasis, with participation at
the Waves
to Wine MS Bike Tour.
Waves to Wine
Each September, over 50 members of the Club ride at the Waves
to Wine MS Bike Tour event, raising over $135,000 to date for research
and services to help those with Multiple Sclerosis while enjoying a stunning
ride through the wine country of Sonoma County. The Club provides
its new participants who meet the $350 fundraising minimum at Waves to
Wine with a fabulous Mitzvah Milers cycling jersey.
Foothill Century
Each May we also participate at, and help sponsor, the Foothill
Century (“The Only Kosher Ride In The West”) in the South Bay, which raises funds
from the registration fees for the South Peninsula Hebrew Day School.
Tour of Napa Valley
Each August we participate at the Tour
of Napa Valley. Now in its
32nd year, this event features easier to more difficult rides of 30, 65
or 100 miles through the gorgeous Napa wine country.
