Waves to Wine MS Bike Tour
The MS Waves to Wine Bike Tour in Sonoma County each September is the primary community service activity of the Mitzvah Milers. New club participants at Waves to Wine receive a free team bike jersey! Waves to Wine raises over $1.5 million each year for research towards a cure for Multiple Sclerosis, and to help the MS Society provide services to the 10,500 individuals in Northern California who have MS. The Mitzvah Milers have raised over $200,000 since 2004 for this cause.
The Sunday Route:
The Mitzvah Milers only ride as a club on the Sunday route at Waves to Wine because of Shabbat. The Sunday routes are 50 or 75 miles through some of the most beautiful scenery in Northern California. This route starts near Rohnert Park, winding through beautiful rural countryside and vineyards on gently rolling hills. Come in to a hero's welcome to the finish line at Lake Sonoma in the heart of wine country. Shuttles will return you to either the Saturday or Sunday start.
The Saturday Route:
The event also has a 75 and 100 mile route on Saturday from San Francisco, over the Golden Gate to Sausalito, to Stinson Beach, up the coast to Point Reyes and along Tomales Bay, then inland to Rohnert Park. While the Mitzvah Milers do not participate as a club on Saturday at Waves to Wine because of Shabbat, many individuals on the team do take part. There is also a 40 mile route option on Saturday that is a loop starting and finishing near Rohnert Park. On Saturday evening there is a festival at the Overnight Center near Rohnert Park with great food, great music, wine and beer.
